Google: North Korean hackers infiltrate UK blockchain project using remote employees
According to Coinjie.com, Google's Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) released a report saying that North Korean hackers pretend to be remote technicians and are expanding their infiltration operations to non-US blockchain projects such as the UK. As US regulation tightens, they have established a global network of fake identities to continue to acquire funds and expand the reach of their activities.
These fake people have participated in multiple Web3 projects including Solana and Anchor smart contract development, and have also involved projects such as building a blockchain talent market and AI blockchain applications. Collier noted that these people pretended to be legal employees to get their salaries and ransomware after being fired by means of leaking source code, etc.
Earlier, the U.S. Department of Justice sued two North Koreans for fraudulent remote work plans between 2018 and 2024, affecting at least 64 U.S. companies. (Cointelegraph)
