Microsoft revealed that it was rolling out Copilot+ PC features such as Live Captions and Image Creator to computers powered by Intel, Snapdragon, and AMD processors. The company also introduced Voice Access capabilities for Copilot+ PCs, which are now available on Snapdragon X Series-powered devices.

Microsoft disclosed that it was rolling out exclusive Copilot Plus PC experiences like Live Captions, Cocreator, Restyle Image and Image Creator across all Copilot+ PCs powered by AMD Ryzen AI 300 series, Intel Core Ultra 200V and Snapdragon X Series processors. The rollout started on March 31st, bringing Copilot+ PC features to all x86-based devices bearing Microsoft’s brand name after the capabilities became available for Intel and AMD based testers in late October.

Microsoft ends Qualcomm’s exclusive hold on Copilot+ PC features

Our ambition to make Windows the destination for AI continues! The Microsoft team said it was rolling out Copilot+ PC features to computers powered by Intel Core Ultra 200V, Snapdragon X Series, and AMD Ryzen AI 300 processors, putting an end to Qualcomm’s exclusive hold over such capabilities. The team also announced that some of these features will be made available in the March 2025 Windows non-security preview update. The company plans to gradually roll out these features with the Windows controlled feature rollout to consumers over the next month.

Microsoft also introduced Voice Access capabilities for Copilot+ PCs, which were now available on Snapdragon X Series-powered devices and will roll out to others later this year. At the core of Windows is the commitment to accessibility and inclusiveness for users, including individuals with vision, hearing, mobility and cognitive disabilities.

While Microsoft is making Copilot+ PC functions generally available for PCs powered by Intel Core Ultra 200V and AMD Ryzen AI 300 chips, these devices don’t represent all Intel and AMD based computers coming to the market this year. That’s because the Core Ultra 200V and Ryzen AI 300 processors are the only chip families from Intel and AMD so far to come with a neural processing unit (NPU) that meets Microsoft Copilot+ PC requirement for performing a minimum of 40 trillion operations per second (TOPS).

However, the Microsoft team clarified that new PCs powered by other processor lines like Intel’s Core Ultra 200U series or AMD’s Ryzen 200 series will not get Copilot+ PC features—unless the company decided to change the requirements at some point.

Microsoft unveils a glimpse into the future of AI-powered personal computing

Microsoft disclosed that AI-enabled creativity features, previously available on Snapdragon X Series Copilot+ PCs, will now be available on AMD and Intel powered devices.

According to the Microsoft team, the Cocreator feature in Paint, now available to Copilot PCs powered by AMD and Intel, will make artistic creation and image refinement more intuitive and approachable. The team added that Cocreator will empower users with enhanced drawing and editing capabilities, allowing them to bring their ideas to life by combining text-based prompts with freehand drawing, enabling the creation of complex designs, personalized visuals or professional-grade artwork.

The ‘Restyle Image and Image Creator’ features in Photos will also help users unleash their creativity in different ways. As per the Microsoft team, ‘Restyle Image’ will allow users to transform photos into artistic interpretations, such as oil paintings, sketches, or modern art styles with just a few clicks. Meanwhile, ‘Image Creator’ will enable users to bring written ideas to life by creating visuals based on detailed prompts, making it perfect for ‘crafting personalized artwork, marketing materials or even storytelling illustrations’.

The Microsoft team claimed that Copilot+ PCs were not just a glimpse into the future of personal computing; they were the future. These devices will empower Windows users with unique AI experiences that will only be possible on a Copilot+ PC.
