The developers behind Palworld and PUBG: Battlegrounds have announced new dating simulation experiences set in their respective game worlds. The announcements do coincide with April Fools’ Day, but recent updates suggest these projects may be more than just pranks.
On Monday, Pocketpair, the studio behind Palworld, released a second trailer for its upcoming dating sim, Palworld! More Than Just Pals, along with an official Steam listing. Though the game was originally revealed before April 1 last year, which many brushed off as a hoax, it seems this time, they are serious about launching it.
Palworld’s dating sim gets a new trailer
The recently released second Palworld! More Than Just Pals trailer digs into the game’s romantic and unsettling interactions. It introduces new characters such as Quivern, who has a “refreshing smile and innocent personality” that makes him well-liked by everyone, and School Nurse Saya, who teases the protagonist with her “mature charm.”
Other love interests include Tarantriss, a cheerful character who enjoys knitting scarves, and Splatterina, an obsessive figure who “always carries a knife” and has a habit of imprisoning people.
The trailer also shows some of the game’s more anomalous moments, such as the protagonist getting caught staring at School Nurse Saya’s chest, or petting Chillet as the character makes suggestive noises.
According to the game’s Steam page, players will step into the shoes of a transfer student at Palagos Private Academy, where they can interact with familiar Palworld creatures like the “cute” and “mysterious” Katress.
The description teases multiple paths, allowing players to form friendships, develop romantic relationships, or take a route to a darker plot; dismembering and eating their pals.
Originally scheduled for release on April 1, 2025, Palworld! More Than Just Pals now has a “to be announced” launch Steam page date. But just as with most April Fools’ Day announcements, fans are on the fence about whether to believe the game will actually launch.
In the 2024 original prank X post that Palworld also reposted, the developers jokingly pushed the idea that an “adult version” of the game would be released, where Pals would “take off their clothes.” Pals don’t actually wear clothes in Palworld, so gamers assumed the statement was part of the gag.
Since the new dating sim will add several human characters, there could be some truth behind the joke. However, Palworld! More Than Just Pals is not intended to be an adult IP because the game is rated PEGI 12 on Steam.

🧠 Plot twist: It’s actually…
The event, which is reportedly scheduled to run until April 29, will involve players dating their PUBG firearms, which are reimagined as fully voiced characters with different personalities.
In addition to the dating sim, PUBG has launched an in-game event called Land, Love, Survive, which is now live across PC and consoles. It will run from April 1 at 02:00 UTC to April 8 at 02:00 UTC, focusing on cooperative play through squad-based missions. Players can earn Event Tokens, BP, Hunter’s Chests, Keys, and Contraband Coupons as rewards.
Winner Winner Romantic Dinner takes place in a high school in the world of PUBG. Players assume the part of a student getting ready for a festival. There are many possible paths through the story, and each one leads to a different end.
Completing different endings unlocks themed nameplates and Contraband Coupons, while additional rewards, such as sprays, emblems, and G-Coin, are earned based on progression.
