On April 2, OpenAI founder Sam Altman posted that the new version of OpenAI may be delayed in release and is currently facing a computing power bottleneck, and services may sometimes slow down.
Previous reports, Sam Altman said on February 12 that it plans to launch GPT-4.5 and GPT-5 in the next few weeks or months. And yesterday, he said that he would release a "new open source weight language model" with inference capabilities in the next few months. The open source weight language model refers to a model that can be used, downloaded, modified or deployed publicly. Although it is not as open as the fully open source model, it has been a major change compared to the fully closed GPT-3 and GPT-4. OpenAI partially opened the GPT-2 model in February 2019, and completed full open source in November of the same year.
