On April 2, IG analysts said in a report that if the U.S. announced tariffs early tonight, trade policies remain unclear enough, and risky asset prices could fall further. They said investors remain “deeply uncertain about the scope, size and goals of these measures. The lack of transparency has exacerbated investor anxiety and pushed gold to record highs.”
The U.S. faces factors such as slowing manufacturing, rising inflationary pressures and weak consumer spending that complicate the role of the Federal Reserve. The global market is still at a stagnant state, but once the tariff policy is announced, it will face "large fluctuations", and the stock market, foreign exchange market and commodity markets may experience large fluctuations.
