On April 8, according to the Washington Post, Elon Musk had actually crossed the official and made a direct appeal to Trump himself this past weekend when he posted a series of posts on social media criticizing the tough tariff plan promoted by one of President Trump’s main White House advisers.


According to two people familiar with the matter (who asked to be anonymous because of private conversations), Musk's intervention has not yet achieved results. However, Trump also expressed his openness to negotiations on some policy content.


Meanwhile, Musk uploaded a video of the late conservative economist Milton Friedman on the X platform. In the video, Friedman emphasized the benefits of international trade cooperation, calling it "the impersonal operation of prices", and used a common wooden pencil as an example to analyze the global sources of its various raw materials.
