On April 8, according to Decrypt, a cryptocurrency lawyer believes that the U.S. government may have the answer to uncovering the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin. James Murphy filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on April 7, claiming that the department knew Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity.
Murphy said his lawsuit aims to obtain documents about a senior agent claiming in 2019 that DHS had interviewed Satoshi Nakamoto. He quoted Agent Rana Saoud, saying that Agents had traveled to California to talk to Satoshi Nakamoto and several other personnel and learned how Bitcoin works.
Murphy believes that if the interview does happen, there should be relevant records. He requested the DHS to disclose all documents related to this, including speeches, interview records and any possible evidence. If DHS refuses to disclose, Murphy said it will continue to pursue the case until the mystery is solved.
