On April 11, the State Council Tariff Commission stated that the U.S. government announced that the tax rate for imposing "reciprocal tariffs" on Chinese goods imported to the United States will be further raised to 125%. The US has arbitrarily imposed abnormally high tariffs on China, which seriously violated international economic and trade rules, ignored the global economic order after World War II built by the United States itself, and violated basic economic laws and common sense. It is completely a unilateral bullying and coercion practice. China strongly condemns this.

According to the "Tariff Law of the People's Republic of China", "Customs Law of the People's Republic of China", "Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China" and other laws and basic principles of international law, with the approval of the State Council, the Tariff Commission of the State Council announced that from April 12, 2025, the tariff rate stipulated in the "Announcement of the Tariff Commission of the State Council on Adjusting the Tariff Measures for the Implementation of Tariffs on Imported Goods Originating from the United States" (Tax Commission Announcement No. 5 of 2025) will be increased from 84% to 125%. Other matters shall be implemented in accordance with the "Announcement of the State Council Tariff Commission on Improving Tariffs on Imported Goods Originating in the United States" (Tax Commission Announcement No. 4 of 2025).

Even if the US continues to impose higher tariffs, it will no longer have economic significance and will become a joke in the history of the world economy. Under the current tariff level, there is no possibility of market acceptance of goods imported from the United States. If the US continues to play the tariff digital game, China will ignore it. However, if the US insists on continuing to substantively infringe on China's interests, China will resolutely counter and stay with it to the end.
