According to two sources familiar with the project, the Trump family is set to launch a Trump-branded Monopoly-like crypto real estate game. The project will be led by long-time business partner Bill Zanker and is scheduled to be released at the end of April.

Trump’s planned real estate game would be the newest addition to a number of crypto ventures from him and his family. The Trump family has an NFT collection, memecoins, a decentralized finance venture, World Liberty Financial, a stablecoin, and a Bitcoin mining firm in which the President’s sons, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump Jr., have a large stake.

Trump family plans to launch a crypto real estate game

It appears @realDonaldTrump will be launching a crypto real estate game similar to Monopoly within the next few weeks.

It might not be a bad idea to scoop up some $TRUMP tokens, as it could play a role in this Web3 game

President Donald Trump is exploring the launch of a Trump-branded Monopoly-themed crypto game, according to two sources familiar with the project. One source familiar with the new Trump crypto game also revealed the project was a twist on Monopoly Go!, where players earn in-game cash by moving pieces around a digital Monopoly board to establish buildings in a digital city.

Another unconnected source familiar with the game also compared the project to Monopoly, but both individual sources asked for anonymity to discuss private business dealings.

The President has been a fan of Monopoly, where in 1989, he released Trump: The Game, a twist on the real-estate-themed board game. He also explored launching a Monopoly-inspired reality TV show in 2006 but never actualized it.

“I’ve always thought Monopoly was an amazing game and there’s a lot of interest in it.”

The source familiar with the matter also acknowledged that Bill Zanker, a longtime friend of Trump who helped him launch his memecoin and NFTs, was behind the project. A spokesman for Zanker, Kevin Mercuri, refuted that the project was similar to Monopoly Go! Mercuri also confirmed that Zanker was working on a game that he plans to launch in late April. He also mentioned that the Monopoly reference is “hearsay.”

A spokesperson for Hasbro, the firm behind the original Monopoly board game, maintained that it hadn’t licensed its intellectual property to a Trump-affiliated organization for a crypto game.

One source revealed that Zanker had originally planned to launch the project before Trump’s inauguration. Another source mentioned that Zanker also reached out to Hasbro in May 2024 to purchase back the license for Trump: The Game, the Trump-themed version of Monopoly. The gaming company told Zanker it no longer had the rights to the more than 20-year-old game.

Trump continues his crypto-backed ventures

DTTM Operations, the firm managing Trump’s trademarks, filed on February 24 to apply Trump’s name to a host of other crypto products. The products included virtual clothing-related NFTs and an online retail store for virtual goods. Mercuri didn’t respond to a query about whether the trademark filings were related to Trump’s latest crypto project and didn’t mention how blockchain technology would be involved.

Trump has had a steady launch of crypto ventures while his sons and the Trump Organization dive deeper into the digital asset space. The President has also signaled a shift in U.S. policy toward the industry by hiring an AI and crypto czar, authorizing the launch of a strategic Bitcoin and digital asset reserve, and pushing for crypto legislation.

Eric Trump mentioned that cryptocurrency “is something that our family believes. It’s something our family speaks about with our heart and soul.” Zanker halted business dealings with Trump as he campaigned in 2015 to secure his first term in the White House.

It was reported that seven years later, Zanker approached the President about launching NFT collections with the real estate mogul’s likeness. Trump accepted, and Zanker and his team released a series of non-fungible tokens that depicted the politician as a superhero, an astronaut, and a cowboy.

Three sources familiar with the project also revealed that Zanker was one of the key personas behind Trump’s memecoin. The businessman is also listed on the certificate of formation for FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT LLC, a firm linked with crypto.
